Meet Our Team
Dr. Nyomi Galow
DVM, Owner
I was born and raised in North Dakota on a grain and cattle farm, about 30 miles from the Canadian border. After graduating from Concordia College in Moorhead MN with a Bachelor of Arts degree, I chose to take a year off before attending veterinary school. During this year I worked at Peterson & Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala, FL as an assistant to an ambulatory veterinarian which is where my passion for broodmares and foals ignited.
After graduating from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2005, I gained a variety of equine veterinary experiences between the university setting and private practice. I completed a yearlong reproduction-focused internship at ISU Veterinary Teaching Hospital before I moved to Oklahoma where I was an associate at Oakridge Equine Hospital in Edmond, OK. Then back to Iowa to work as a clinician in the theriogenology (reproduction) section of the ISU Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center and as a clinical instructor at the ISU CVM in Ames. After 10 years at the university, I returned to private practice in central Iowa as an associate at Iowa Equine for another 4 years.
Then, in August of 2022, Running G Equine Veterinary Services was established and I am the proud owner! G for Galow and Running is because I feel between my 2 young children and the new practice I will be running!! My passion is brood mares and foals, but I love the variety of working with all the disciplines of riding and driving. I never know what my day will entail while providing ambulatory services for the patients of central Iowa and that is something I enjoy! Variety keeps it interesting!!
When I am not working, I enjoy the laughter my two kids provide me, and all their activities keep me running and on the road! We love to try new ice cream wherever we go. My youngest is a girl who loves art and is SOOO strong-willed, wow! My oldest is a boy who loves sports and hunting and has such an imagination! I also have a yellow Labrador retriever that may become my riding companion, so stay tuned!
I am excited to offer my services to the horse owners of central Iowa and maintain old friendships and develop new ones. Riders up!
